The Designer behind Studio1820

Hi!

My name is Faten (FA-ten, like the musical note "Fa" and the number 10). I'm an interior designer with a passion for creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but thoughtful, functional and full of intention. I focus on the details that make a space feel just right, and believe that great design should feel personal, not just polished.

I am NCIDQ certified, and I'm also a proud member of ASID (the American Society of Interior Designers). Over the years, I've worked on everything from cozy city apartments to full-scale residential and commercial projects. I love helping clients reimagine their spaces in ways that reflect who they are and how they want to live and feel.

My background includes a B.A. in Interior Architecture and a Master's degree in Design, and I've had the chance to work with incredible design firms along the way. That experience shaped my multidisciplinary approach, which often extends into bespoke furniture, product design and architectural consulting.

In 2013, I was honored to receive the Global Impact Grant Award for my volunteer work renovating a Pediatric Chemo Unit, an experience that reminded me of the deeper role design can play in people's lives. I've also had the opportunity to showcase my own product designs at the 2017 Chelsea Market event in New York, part of a collection created in collaboration with underprivileged women to support community development through design.

Today, through Studio 1820, I continue to explore how design can be both meaningful and transformative, and I'm always excited to collaborate with clients who want to bring new life to the spaces they call their own.

Full or Partial Service Interior Design

Investment

For Full or Partial Service Interior Design, we use a hybrid pricing model: a flat fee for all design phases included in the specific scope we agree on, and an hourly rate for the contract administration phase, which covers project management. We also apply a procurement percentage fee on the total FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) if we're handling the purchasing.

The exact pricing structure depends on the complexity of your project. Typically, a full apartment gut renovation service accounts for around 10–20% of the total project cost, with 15% being a solid middle ground. For smaller updates and straightforward interior design services, the percentage is lower. The size and scope of each project determines the flat fee, but it's always based on an estimate of how many hours are needed to complete the work, and usually ranges between $15–$25 per square foot.

Our Virtual Interior Design service is also available at a flat fee, with no hourly rate since there's no need for project management or renovation oversight. It does, however, include a procurement percentage if we're handling the FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) purchasing.
