WHO WE ARE

Warm contemporary interiors, designed with intention.

Studio 1820 is a boutique New York interior design studio creating warm contemporary interiors shaped by global influences and modern sensibilities. We design for curious, open-minded clients who value both beauty and intention, spaces that feel refined yet relaxed, layered yet effortless.

Our work balances clean lines, thoughtful materials and carefully considered details to create interiors that feel soulful, personal and timeless rather than trend-driven. Each project is designed to support daily life while reflecting the people who inhabit the space, resulting in environments that feel cohesive, welcoming and unmistakably individual.

Collaboration sits at the heart of our process. We work closely with clients to understand how they live, move and want to feel in their spaces. Whether a project involves a full renovation or a thoughtful update of what already exists, our approach adapts to each space and each client. Some projects lean more architectural and refined, others more relaxed and collected, but every space carries a quiet sense of balance and ease.

With experience across residential and commercial interior design projects, Studio 1820 navigates every stage of the process, from renovation and spatial planning to materials, furniture selection, custom pieces and final styling. Our goal is always the same: to create interiors that feel complete, intentional and ready to be lived in, spaces that quietly support daily life and make people feel joyful and at ease. The Designer behind Studio1820

" Hi,

I’m Faten (FA-ten, like the musical note “Fa” and the number 10), founder and principal designer of Studio 1820. I’m an interior architect and designer passionate about creating spaces that are both beautiful and deeply intentional. I believe the best interiors feel personal, balanced and thoughtfully designed to support everyday life.

I am NCIDQ certified and a proud member of ASID (the American Society of Interior Designers). My work spans residential and commercial projects, from city apartments to larger renovations. I enjoy helping clients reimagine their spaces in ways that reflect who they are and how they want to live and feel.

My background includes a B.A. in Interior Architecture and a Master’s degree in Design, along with experience working with leading design studios. Over time, my work has grown to include bespoke furniture, product design and collaboration with architects and contractors to create cohesive, well-considered environments.

In 2013, I received the Global Impact Grant Award for volunteer work renovating a Pediatric Chemo Unit, an experience that reinforced for me how meaningful design can be. I’ve also presented my own product designs at the 2017 Chelsea Market event in New York as part of a collection created with underprivileged women to support community development through design.

Through Studio 1820, I continue to explore how thoughtful design can shape the way we live, move and feel in our spaces. I look forward to collaborating with clients who value intentional design and want to create spaces that feel both timeless and deeply personal.

Warmly,

Faten Baassiri "

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know which service is right for me?

It really depends on: the scope of the project, the size of the project and the budget including furnishings and/or construction work. If you’re not sure, we are happy to discuss all the details with you during an initial complimentary Discovery Call.

2. Do you charge hourly?

Full & Partial Interior Design: Hybrid fee structure: a flat rate fee for the design phases and an hourly rate for project management.

Virtual Interior Design: Flat rate fee: based on the square footage of the space and the scope of work.

Following our initial Discovery Call and a review of your project details, we provide a tailored Proposal with a transparent and fair structure aligned with your scope of work.

3. How long does a typical project take?

Many variables come into play. Partial Design projects typically take a few months up to a year, while Full Design projects often take at least a year if not more, especially in the case of full gut renovations. Virtual Interior Design projects usually take 1–2 months, and sometimes up to 3, depending on scope, furniture selections and client feedback. We move at the pace the project requires, never rushed, never stalled.

4. Do you work with clients outside New York?

Yes! We work with clients across the U.S., on both Full and Partial Interior Design projects, as well as international projects selectively. Virtual Design allows us to collaborate fully remotely, regardless of location.

5. What design styles do you specialize in?

Our work is rooted in warm contemporary interiors, shaped by intuitive layouts, layered materials and a careful balance of form and function, resulting in spaces that feel curated, soulful and deeply personal. We design homes that favor longevity over trends, intentionally centered around how our clients live, move and want to feel. We work collaboratively, guiding each project from concept to completion with transparency and care, creating enduring homes that feel grounded, functional and quietly joyful.

Faten and team were an absolute dream to work with. As a busy working professional, I did not have time to follow the entire design and construction process, but wanted to ensure high level results. Faten was able to take over design and oversee construction, which made things so much easier for me. Her vision was a perfect match to my taste and her eye for construction issues and details was second to none. I would highly recommend Studio 1820 to anyone looking for high end results and minimal construction stress.Read More
