For Full or Partial Service Interior Design, we use a hybrid pricing model: a flat fee for all design phases included in the specific scope we agree on, and an hourly rate for the contract administration phase, which covers project management. We also apply a procurement percentage fee of 12–15% on the total FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) if we're handling the purchasing. Note that this percentage is applied to the discounted vendor price available through our trade accounts, so our clients never pay above MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price).

In New York City, for example, gut renovations typically cost between $250–$500 per square foot for the construction work alone, depending on the quality of finishes and complexity of the project. Our full-service interior design fees for gut renovations account for approximately 15–25% of the total project cost, with 20% being a solid middle ground for most projects. This translates to roughly $35–$70 per square foot in design fees, though the exact pricing depends on the size, scope and complexity of your specific project, as well as your budget choices (mid-range or high-end).

For partial renovations and updates, such as kitchen or bathroom remodels, cosmetic refreshes, or single-room makeovers, construction costs in NYC typically start at $100–$200 per square foot and can go higher depending on the scope, client needs and budget choices (value, mid-range or high-end). Our design fees for these projects generally range from 15–20% of the total project cost, or approximately $20–$40 per square foot, with smaller, more straightforward updates falling at the lower end of the range.

Our Virtual Interior Design Service is also available at a flat fee, with no hourly rate since there's no need for project management or renovation oversight. It does, however, include a procurement percentage if we're handling the FF&E purchasing.
